Matt and I took our annual trip up Guardsman's Pass this past month. Maelynn had such a fun time playing and looking at the gorgeous view. Such a fun tradition!

Go Utes!!
We took Maelynn to her first University of Utah football game. She had so much fun!
We took trax down to the game, and she had so much fun making friends on the way to the game.
She clapped and cheered the entire game. The people around us were so impressed with how good she was. She never cried! She loved every minute of it! She is a sports fan already!
Daddy is so proud!
Hogle Zoo!
We took a trip to the Hogle Zoo this summer with Lisa and Brecken. Maelynn had such a great time! She saw so many animals and really enjoyed her first trip to the zoo. Our favorite part was the sea lions and polar bear! They were so much fun to watch!
The polar bear would come right up to the glass and get face to face with all the little kids. He did this over and over again! He loved it as much as the kids did.
Maelynn loved riding the train and sitting in the giant eagle nest.
Maelynn loved the elephants! They were the first animal that we saw, and she thought they were very cool. She waved hello to them, and liked seeing the baby elephant.
Pooped after a fun filled day at the zoo. Thanks Aunt Lisa and Brecken! We had fun!!

Summer 2012
This summer has been so much fun! Life is so much different now that we have a baby, but it is so much more fun! Maelynn is changing so much, and has experienced a lot of "firsts" this summer. She is trying to figure out this whole "crawling" thing we've all been talking about. She gets up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth. She scoots around the floor, and is pulling herself up on everything! She is dying to walk around, and will always choose to stand over crawl, so I'm a little nervous that she is going to walk before she crawls. Only time will tell.
On Memorial Day we drove around to visit gravesites with my sister Trish and her kids, my mom and dad and my sister Lisa's kids. It is a tradition that I hope to establish in our new little family. This year we even traveled to Logan to see my Postma grandparent's gravesites. It was a great day.
Maelynn experienced her first 4th of July by spending the whole day with her cousins and grandparents. We started the day by having breakfast at Black Bear Diner (yum!) followed by a movie at Jordan Commons. Madagascar 3 was Maelynn's first movie ever and she did great! She spent the whole time nursing, sleeping, and actually watching part of the movie. She loved dancing to the songs, and she would wait until it was really quiet, then she would talk nice and loud. At least it was a kids movie and everyone was doing the same thing, so she fit right in. After the movie we went to the Sandy City Parade where we ate lots of junk food and enjoyed walking around the shops and watching the parade. After such a long fun day, Mae passed out before the fireworks even started! I guess we will have to wait until her next 4th of July to introduce her to fireworks.
I took Maelynn to her first park this summer. It was so much fun to see her excitment when I put her in the swings! She giggled, laughed, and people watched the whole time she was swinging. She absolutely loved it!! Such a fun afternoon with just me and my sweetheart. I know that going to the park will be one of the our favorite things to do together.
Last week we took Maelynn to the pool with her aunt Trish and cousins Addison, Emma, and Morgan. It was so much fun to see her play in the water with her cousins. She is definitley not afraid of the water, and wanted me to just let her swim in the deep end. She is already Miss Independent! (I'm in trouble. . . )
I have a few weeks until I go back to work (part time . . . yay!!) so I'm going to try and fill our time with even more "firsts," but I think it's been a very productive, fun, and exciting first summer with our little peanut!

We celebrated Matt's 30th birthday in June by spending the weekend up at my parent's cabin in Midway with a few friends. It was a lot of fun because Maelynn was able to spend some time with her "almost birthday buddy" Piper. It was her first playtime with a baby her age, and I just know that they will be great friends! Matt's birthday was a lot of fun. We spend the night at the cabin, and the boys golfed while the girls shopped in Park City. Then we all met up at Baja Cantina for dinner. It was so great to spend time with our friends and celebrate a big milestone in Matt's life with people we care about.

5 Months!
Maelynn turned 5 months old last week! I can't believe how fast the time is flying! She is getting so big, and doing so many new things. She has turned into a chatty little lady! She has babbled for a little while now, but this last weekend she started saying "Da, Da, Dadda. . ." It is so fun to hear her learn new sounds. So far she has said "Ma, Ya, Da, Ba" I'm pretty sure that's all the consonant sounds she has learned. Way fun!!
She has mastered rolling from her belly to her back, but has yet to roll from her back to her belly. I think it's because she hates being on her belly, so why would she ever want to roll from her back to her belly?
She is currently working on sitting up unassisted. She is doing pretty good, but still needs work with her balance from side to side. It is exciting to see her do so many new things.
So many things have happened since the last time I posted. I have been so busy with work, but now that I'm off track I need to update you guys with the latest.
To celebrate Maelynn turning 3 months old, we took her to FotoFly to have some family pictures taken. They did such an amazing job! It was so hard to pick our favorites from the whole batch of pictures, there were so many great ones! Here are a few of our favorites.
On March 4th we had Maelynn blessed. She was gorgeous in her long white dress. My dad gave the blessing, and our family and friends were able to be there. It was such a special day. My mom and dad had everyone over to their house afterward for food. It was the perfect day for such a sweet angel.

I just had to take a picture of what was under the dress. So sweet!! |
Easter at Grandma and Grandpa Postma's house. |
This last weekend Matt, Maelynn and I went to St. George with my parents and spent a few days at their house. It was a lot of fun! We took Maelynn there when she was about 6 or 7 weeks old, and it was a whole new experience to have her 5 months old. She was so much fun! We went shopping with Grandma, went to the swimming pool, and she even sat on the grass for the first time. It was a vacation of a lot of firsts, and she was such a trooper. She never cried! The whole time we were dragging her from store to store, or from place to place, she was so easy going. It was great!

Happy 2 month birthday Maelynn!
I can hardly believe that Maelynn is already 2 months old! She has changed so much, and some days I find myself surprised with just how much she has changed! It's hard to notice when you are with her all day everyday, but I thought I would post some pictures of her latest exciting moments, and share some of the things that she has started doing.
She loves taking warm bubble baths, but SCREAMS bloody murder when I take her out and rub lotion on her. Not a fan of being cold. |
She even loves to stand up in the bath tub (or kitchen sink) during bathtime. She started putting weight on her legs pretty early (this pictures was at 1 month old) |
She took her first vacation to St. George on New Years Eve 2011. She had so much fun hanging with Grandma and Grandpa! |
She found a love of her swing and her binkie. The first month of her life, she hated her binkie with a passion. Now she (and mommy) appreciates it when she just needs to suck on something. |
She is a big girl at 2 months. We go to the doctor tomorrow and will post our stats then. |
Maelynn's First Holiday Season!
It has been a while since I've updated the blog. We've been busy adjusting to life with a newborn. She is an ANGEL! We are so lucky, and I honestly can't remember life without her.
We survived the holiday season with a newborn (not without a few tears on her end and mine). Our first holiday came exactly one week after she was born. . . Thanksgiving! I was very overwhelmed with taking her out of the house so soon after being born, but I was too exciting to have a Thanksgiving with my parents. They had been gone on a mission for a year and a half, and the year before that we were with our in-laws for Thanksgiving. It was so nice to have my mom's cooking! I almost forgot what a great cook she is!
Christmas was a blast! Maelynn got all dressed up in her beautiful Christmas dress for the party at my parent's house on Christmas Eve. She looked beautiful!! In true baby style, she had a complete diaper blow-out on the way to my mom's house. It was sad, but at least her dress stayed clean, we just had to wash her stretch pants during dinner, and they were good to go in time to open presents.
We draw names for gifts in my family, and Maelynn got a darling toy from her cousin Addison. She picked out a cool shirt for her cousin Andrew. She has great taste. :)
My mom and dad bought Maelynn a shelf for her closet, and lots of fun toys! She even got a new pair of Christmas jammies (a tradition in my family). Even though she slept through most of the party (or was eating) it was so much fun to have a baby at our Christmas party. I can't wait for next year when she will be just over a year old and be able to enjoy all her crazy cousins and join right in the fun.
Matt and I were very lucky this year for Christmas! My parents gave me a Sony digital video recorder. It was the PERFECT gift for me this Christmas! Now I can capture all the 'firsts' with Mae. Matt got a BBQ grill from my parents, which was the PERFECT gift for him because now he can help me out with dinner (he already made a steak and grilled salmon that were FABULOUS!!).
Maelynn gave her mommy and daddy a great Christmas present that morning by sleeping 8 1/2 hours straight! Merry Christmas to us!
Christmas morning was a lot of fun. We kept with tradition in our family and had Matt's dad, grandpa, uncle Jack, mom, and stepdad Boyd over for breakfast. It is so nice to be able to have his family get together over the holidays, especially now that we have Maelynn. I'm very grateful that his parents are still such good friends. We opened gifts and ate a yummy breakfast of Christmas Strata, and Baked Frenchtoast.
Matt gave me a new coat, and a pair of Ugg boots (totally surprised me). I realized that I am very predictable and usually want a coat and boots - but hey, I try to make it easy on him. :)I gave Matt new clothes . . . kinda boring, but practical, and Maelynn got a new outfit and a toy from her mom and dad.
Later that day we went to Matt's mom's house for her Christmas party. It was so fun to be able to see a few of his aunts and uncles and cousins. It has been forever since we've seen anyone in his family, and it was great to be able to introduce Maelynn to them.
